I had to save up over the next few months and buy a new computer, thus putting me in Sim Withdrawal. I really resisted this idea for a long time because I could already run a perfectly good game up until the point my screen suddenly got lines down it and my sims crashed and my brother broke the news to me that my video card was dead and also my machine, being almost ten years old, was obsolete. I really hadn’t wanted to, but I finally accepted reality that games don’t come on CDs anymore and downloaded Origin for my computer. I have stories and generations and lineages and I have all the medieval custom content and mods and hacks and people are STILL making stuff for the game so I just can’t quit. Now most people would give up, but you have to understand that I have spent over a decade building my ultimate creations. There was a workaround program for THIS too…but the unfortunate side effect of that was that THE GAME WOULD NOT LOAD-AT ALL. I was pissed, so I Googled again and found out that new video cards did not support the old games. My graphics card was actually BETTER THAN MY OLD ONE, so this made NO sense to me. I found the answer, downloaded the workaround program that would allow me to continue installing expansion packs, and continued on my merry way.īut then I got ALL the games installed and fired up the game and…seriously BAD lagging and graphics issues ensued. So I did what anyone with any moderate knowledge of software does I Googled. There was apparently a problem with compatibility of games installing by CD on new Windows 10 computers. And partway through the first expansion pack of University installation, I ran into my first (minor) issue. I first attempted to install the CDs one by one, all 18 of them. In my most recent upgrading of computer hardware, I came across an unfortunate side effect of having an obsession with a game that I’ve been playing since 2004 THE GAME WOULD NO LONGER PLAY.
